Concept design and process simulation

In this project, a concept was developed to automate a previously manual loading and unloading process of industrial furnaces using a robot.

A particular challenge was the high weight of the containers and special requirements regarding positioning accuracy.

  • Review and analysis of the current process
  • Research and selection of available commercial solutions (grippers, robots, mobile platforms, control concepts, …)
  • Mechanical design of a gripper
  • Sequence simulation in Virtual Commissioning Software Industrial Physics
  • Obtaining price estimates from established component suppliers and system integrators
  • Well-structured documentation as input for the system integrator
