The project “Pixel Twin” aims at defining small fragments of the earth surface (“pixels”) as identifiable and addressable IoT objects.
Earth observation data provided by the ESA can then be utilized in a variety of ways. Or, as Susanne Katzler-Fuchs, Managing Director of our partner Brimatech, states it, “Attracting non-space user groups is the Holy Grale of the Earth observation industry”.
The potential of such a system is as versatile as it is sustainable. For instance, heat islands in cities could be alleviated by introducing incentives for planting trees.
Congratulations to our colleague Thomas Buchegger and his team for their successful project proposal! The project will start in April 2022.
