Conventional measuring and control tasks require a diverse range of sensors and actuators to be connected to the control unit. This in turn makes it necessary to have a large number of different power sources and plug sockets. Mobility is always a decisive factor. The time spent setting up a measuring device is often longer than the time spent using it. These are the main reasions for the development of the Portable Mess-Station (Portable Measuring Station – PMS), which is based on the National Instruments CompactRIO and CompactDAQ series.
TECHNICAL CONSTRUCTION
With the aim of increasing flexibility and mobility, technical solutions were built into so-called modules, which offer an interrelated range of functions. The moduls were created in form of 19-inch rack plug-ins. Different modules can be selected based on the task to be performed, and inserted into a 19-inch rack. The concept is fully compatible with other commercially-available 19-inch rack solutions and can be expanded as required.
SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE PMS
- Power supply 9-36 V DC or 230 V AC
- Compatible with all current NI CompactRIO and CompactDAQ systems
- High-performance outputs for the connection of actuators
- Wide range of voltage levels for the connection of sensors
- User-specific sensor modules minimise set-up time and increase the quality of measurements
- Network functionality enables the implementation of distributed systems
- Open platform, possible to develop individual modules
TECHNICAL DATA
- Supply voltage required: 9-36 V DC or 230 V AC
- Sensor outputs (voltage): 5 V DC/12 V DC/15 V DC/-15 V DC/24 V DC,
each up to a max. of 1A - Actuator outputs: 4 x 24 V DC/10 A with a 230 V AC power supply or
4 x 9-36 V DC depending on the DC power supply - Dimensions in mobile trolley system (WxHxD): 54 cm x 45 cm x 57 cm (8 HE rack)
