Generator for hydroelectric power plant

WWS Hydropower
WWS Hydropower

Permanent synchronous generator

LCM has designed a 700 kW generator with 36,500 Nm for a hydropower plant for WWS Wasserkraft GmbH. The permanent magnet synchronous generator is individually adapted to the respective plant and optimally adjusted to factors such as turbine type and water volume. Thanks to the direct grid connection, no expensive power electronics or mechanical gearboxes are required, which significantly reduces maintenance costs.

The challenge lies in the precise design, as each plant requires a tailor-made solution and the first draft must be a perfect fit. This efficient and economical technology enables the modernization of small hydropower plants and actively contributes to sustainable energy generation.

Requirements

  • Operation on rigid mains without inverter
  • Fulfillment of all network requirements by TOR
  • Material savings through efficient design
  • Robustness and long service life – more than 30 years

Your benefit

  • CO2 savings
  • Compact solution for revitalization
  • Higher electricity yield due to extended operating range (low water)
  • Lower maintenance costs thanks to gearbox-free solution
  • Ecological advantage through oil-free operation
