Automated measuring processes using cobots

Seamless combination of robotics and measurement technology
A fully automated measurement process combines precise positioning, data acquisition and processing in a continuous workflow. The cobot takes over the exact positioning of sensors or test specimens, enabling spatially resolved measurements and targeted stimuli.
Integrated status monitoring and automatic notifications make these systems ideal for unattended measurement campaigns and data-intensive applications such as machine learning. Depending on the application and available interfaces (e.g. ROS, REST-API, manufacturer-specific interfaces), a customisable automatic measurement sequence can be implemented.
Requirements
- Fully automated workflow for positioning, measurement and data processing
- Spatially resolved measurements or position-related excitations on the object
- Adaptability to different measuring systems and tasks
- Safety for unattended measurement campaigns
- Generation of large amounts of data for ML applications
Solution
- Development of an end effector for holding sensors or objects
- Programming and integration of interfaces to robots, sensors and DAQ system
- Automated execution of measurements including post-processing
- Status monitoring of the process and automatic notifications in the event of deviations
