Women in mechatronics – innovation through diversity
Diversity makes us more innovative and successful. At the Linz Center of Mechatronics (LCM), we specifically support female researchers and technicians at the start of their careers. We are also committed to equal opportunities for all employees. We are convinced that diverse and balanced teams are more creative, make better decisions and work together more effectively.
With clear goals and real measures, we create a working environment that offers equal opportunities for all genders to achieve personal and professional success. Our initiatives to promote diversity and equality not only strengthen our innovative power, but also make us an attractive employer for the best talent.
Become part of a team that lives diversity!
As Scientific Director, it is a key concern of mine to actively promote diversity, equal rights and equal opportunities. Supporting women in science and research is particularly important to me. That is why I am committed to offering women targeted career opportunities – especially in management positions and as project managers.Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Manfred Nader Chief Scientific Officer (CSO)
As Equal Opportunity Officer, I see the advancement of women as an important step, but it’s about more than that: real equal opportunities for everyone! With clear measures, we create spaces in which everyone can develop their full potential. Because equality is not just fair – it is the boost we need for innovation, strength and a successful future.Gerda Klammer, MBA Head of Human Resources | Equal Opportunity Officer
How we promote women at LCM
Transferring responsibility
Women in management – deliberately. We give preference to women for new project management positions in order to specifically promote talent and smooth career paths. Our goal: more women at the top, equal opportunities and a culture that embraces diversity.
Further training strengthens
California, Belgium, career coaching? Our women go their own way – with research stays, part-time studies and targeted further training. Individual support for individual goals.
Mentoring as a boost
Experience meets talent: two thirds of our women in R&D have already benefited from cross-mentoring. The exchange with experienced mentors provides a real career boost.
LCM has been a partner of the cross-mentoring program since 2018 and has sent 7 mentees so far. The managing directors have been personally involved as mentors and have hosted several interim meetings with all participants. For me as program manager, this is a distinction on the part of LCM, as we are able to set special priorities at the interface between research and companies and at the same time demonstrate the innovative strength of an Upper Austrian company.Doris Schulz Media woman | Head of Crossmentoring Program
Part-time management
Leadership needs flexibility: 35% of our managers show that part-time work and top positions are a perfect match. With flexible models, we create space for more balance in life.
LCM has given me the opportunity to work part-time as a manager. Thanks to working from home and flexitime, I can organize the care of my six-year-old son in the best possible way and manage my team efficiently at the same time. The virtual tools enable smooth collaboration, and clear structures and well-established processes make us more productive than ever. For me, this is proof that modern working models can create real win-win situations.Claudia Sakuler BA, MA Head of Communications
From intern to expert
70% of our women in R&D started out as interns – today they are experts. Internships with us challenge and encourage, create opportunities and open doors for careers in research.
Excellent family-friendly
18 working time models, 50% part-time quota, 100% employees returning from parental leave: Family-friendliness is a reality for us. Flexible hours, home office and flexitime? Standard. Even certified since 2019.
Women in front of the curtain
We make women visible – whether at conferences, in research or in the media. Their ideas, successes and expertise inspire and show the next generation that anything is possible.
Promoting women at the Linz Center of Mechatronics means contributing their ideas and perspectives to mechatronic solutions in order to sustainably strengthen the competitiveness of the industry and drive forward future-proof technologies.Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Johann Hoffelner Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
