R-PODID – Reliable Powerdown for Industrial Drives Strengthening precision agriculture

Reliable shutdown for industrial drives
R-PODID is an EU project co-funded by KDT JU with the aim of developing automated, cloud-free, short-term fault prediction for electric drives, power modules and power devices that can be integrated into power converters.
Goals
- Methodology for generating fault prediction models from sparse training sets or system simulations
- Power electronics with integrated support for embedded AI
- 24-hour fault prediction for gallium nitride (GaN) and silicon carbide (SiC)-based power converters
- 24-hour fault prediction and fault prevention for electric drives
- Sensors for predicting reliability in power modules
LCM is a consortium member that contributes its expertise in the simulation and modeling of electric drives to the project. New types of machine models that offer reduced simulation time are to be developed in the project and used to simulate faults and shutdown processes.
LCM’s activities are closely interlinked with the consortium partners AVL List GmbH, Silicon Austria Labs, Brno University of Technology and the Johannes Kepler University Linz in order to develop the use case for the safe handling of faults in asynchronous machines, which are widely used in industry.
