PixelTwins

Post Forschungsprojekt PixelTwins

The project “PixelTwin” aims to define small fragments of the Earth’s surface (“pixels”) as identifiable and addressable IoT objects. Earth observation data from the ESA are integrated with local sensor data into an open-source platform based on Fiware.

Currently, this project is being implemented with the first selected use case: Smart Farming. Once deployed, users will be able to monitor agricultural fields for each pixel of interest—even on cloudy days—since IoT data is continuously available.

The potential of such a system is as versatile as it is sustainable, and several additional use cases are planned once the initial use case has been realized.
