Complete control solution for mini robots with PoE and galvanic isolation

A compact control board based on the Portenta X8 was developed for the L3X-Z hexapod robot, which offers all industrial interfaces with electrical isolation. Special features include power supply via PoE (also via single-pair Ethernet) as well as integrated sensors (9-DoF IMU) and integrated memory. The development was carried out in close cooperation with the customer – from the architecture to the commissioning of the prototype.

Requirements

  • Development of a miniaturized control board for Hexapod robots L3X-Z
  • Based on Portenta X8 SBC
  • All interfaces (RS485, CAN, ETH) galvanically isolated
  • Power supply via PoE, both via Gigabit Ethernet and via Single-Pair Ethernet
  • Integrate 9-DoF IMU and EEPROM on basic PCB

Solution

  • Common definition of the hardware architecture
  • Circuit diagram and PCB development together with the customer via A365
  • Review of circuit diagram and PCB by the customer’s community
  • Prototype order from Eurocircuits via customer account with support from LCM
  • Commissioning and verification of all interfaces and components together with the customer
