Post FFG SS Electric ship propulsion

Together with Voith and ELIN Motoren, the Linz Center of Mechatronics (LCM) has developed the electrified Voith-Schneider-Propeller (eVSP). This innovative propulsion solution significantly improves the maneuverability of ships and enables resource-saving positioning even in difficult conditions.

The electric motor was optimized using the LCM software “SyMSpace” to maximize efficiency and performance. The eVSP dispenses with gear stages, reduces maintenance costs and operates with minimal noise. In the future, the drive will be powered by hydrogen to further reduce emissions. The first major order from Norway shows the great market potential of this technology.

Requirements

  • Fuel savings: 400,000 liters of diesel per ship per year
  • Already prepared for emission-free hydrogen technology
  • Very short response time
  • Maximum maneuverability

Your benefit

  • CO2 savings
  • Less noise
  • Less vibration

Linzers revolutionize shipping
