AWARD – All Weather Autonomous Real logistics operations and Demonstrations

Post research project truck DFDS

Truck-based freight transportation is currently facing three major challenges: A large number of accidents, 90% of which are caused by drivers, the underutilization of transport capacities and the increasing shortage of truck drivers (2019: 60,000 in Germany, according to Wikipedia).

The AWARD project (budget €26 million, 29 partners from 12 countries) aims to develop and operate safe autonomous transportation systems. These are to be used in a wide range of logistical applications in various scenarios. The main focus is on operation in all possible weather conditions.

Project partners

LCM supports the pilot studies by integrating and testing ultra-wideband (UWB) localization in indoor, outdoor and indoor/outdoor hand-over situations

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101006817.
